Continuance
Immersive Commemoration
In partnership with the Woodland Cultural Centre we are co-presenting a powerful commemorative event, Continuance – Immersive Commemoration, in acknowledgement of the reopening of the Mohawk Institute, Canada’s first Indian Residential School, a site of deep cultural and historical significance.
An immersive multimedia performance experience, Kaha:wi Dance Theatre with Santee Smith’s concept and direction weaves ancestral knowledge, bold new media, and powerful storytelling through music, song, dance and stunning 3D projection mapping.
This commemoration honours the legacy and voices of Survivors, recognizes the 10th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action, marks Kaha:wi Dance Theatre’s 20th anniversary, two decades of sharing Indigenous story, culture, and creative resilience and 50 years of cultural resurgence at the Woodland Cultural Centre.
Featuring: KDT dancers, Semiah and the Band, Derek Miller, Lacey Hill and special performers Jeremy Dutcher (May 29th), Aysanabee (May 30)
